RealWorld Icon Editor is a feature rich icon maker and extractor. It is able to create Windows XP and Windows Vista icons directly from images and 3D models and supports customizable batch operations. By a single mouse-click, RealWorld Icon Editor automatically renders a 3D scene into image or creates an icon. Not happy with the result? Just move the camera, adjust lights or modify the object and click again. With our icon maker you don't have to be a first class artist and you still can create perfect icons by trial and error in a few moments. On each generated image, a configurable special effect is applied. Icons can be modified in raster editor with common drawing tools or custom scripted operations. Alternatively icons can be reated by combining images using drag and drop techniques. A library with 36 icons and source 3D models is included.
The following full-length review applies to version 8.1
RealWorld Icon Editor creates icons from 3D models or from vector images in five simple steps. With this program you can create icons ranging from 1x1 pixel up to 256x256 pixels including icons with different width, height and color depths, such as monochromatic, 16 colors, 256 colors, 16M colors and 16M colors with full alpha channel (32-bit icons). A great thing about this program is that integrates a simple 3D graphics editor and allows you to create high-quality icons from 3D models within the application. It also has customizable window layouts and content-dependent toolbars, which can be adjusted to meet specific needs. Moreover, the program has the ability to modify icons by drawing smooth shapes and text, cutting and pasting regions, as well as create icons with perspective, lighting and shadows. You may also script your own image filters using JScript, thus eliminating repetitive tasks which are specific for your project. Some of the new features in this version include tools for cloning, retouching, cropping, painting with brush, image masks, scripting, mouse gestures among many others. |
